About us
To gather together as a community of hobbyists and artists to share the joy, pleasure, and creative recreation of modern Sogetsu Ikebana through social gatherings, collaborative public exhibitions, and local community outreach. We are a dedicated non-profit social club where members bond over shared creative geometry and the peaceful practice of floral sculpture.

Our Mission
Meet Our Board Members
Founded in 1993 by Yaeko Baily (Sogetsu-ryu, First Grade Shihan, Riji), our study group serves as a vibrant social and recreational hub for floral art enthusiasts across the Chicagoland area.
The Sogetsu Illinois Study Group is an official regional branch dedicated to cultivating friendship, creative recreation, and social camaraderie through the modern art of Sogetsu Ikebana. Operating as a registered 501(c)(7) non-profit social club, our digital museum and collaborative learning circles serve three core paths:

Honoring Lineage: We provide a permanent historical record and vital digital gateway for Tokyo Headquarters, showcasing the dynamic vitality and active artistic growth of our regional ikebana circle.

Fostering Community: We unite our geographically diverse local gatherings into a single, shared pavilion—allowing members to celebrate collective breakthroughs, revisit master workshop archives, and share inspiration.

Welcoming New Explorers: We offer an open, encouraging invitation to prospective hobbyists and flower lovers across Illinois, providing a structured, warm space to discover the peaceful equilibrium of line, mass, and space.
